About Us:
We’re located at about state line between Decatur, Indiana and Van Wert, Ohio. We’ve been cleaning skulls for about 15 years now. Originally it was only for friends and family. Then came CWD “Chronic Wasting Disease”. My home state of Indiana along with most of the other states decided to help contain the disease and made it law that full skulls coming from the west or any other state had to go to a licensed taxidermist until completion into a finished piece. Annually my family, couple friends, and I would go west for an Antelope/Mule Deer hunt and the idea of taking 10-12 skulls to be cleaned for $165 each didn’t go over so well. So, now I’m a licensed taxidermist. In order to fulfill the rules set by the DNR, I must dispose of all refuse from the process in accordance with “Board of Animal Health” standards specific to CWD. In the early years we boiled skulls just like everyone else but were always disappointed when the skulls eventually turned yellow from grease. Then when CWD and new laws were created, we had to switch to full-time beetle process. The guidelines set by “Board of Animal Health” are strict but much easier to conform to with the use of beetles.
Send your skulls to me and I’ll take care of them as if they were my own.
Give me a call or send an email if you have any questions,
Thank you so much,
Tyler Braun
