We love our beetles.  They work for very little and always do a great job.  All they ask for is food and a place to live (minimum of 100 yards from my house).  Of course they do require a lot of attention and distance from any dwelling.

The skulls will be cleaned with the use of these little flesh eating beetles.  After all  flesh is removed from the  skull (inside and out), the skulls will  go through several steps to be degreased that will take approx. a month.  This will help to minimize the yellowing over time.   Once the degreasing process is completed, a two part process of whitenning is done to make the bone as white as possible without painting.

We do NOT boil the skulls.  They tend to get loose or even fall apart if boiled.  When boiled, it seems that a lot of grease gets cooked into the bone, especially the brain area.  Yellowing will then occur at a later date and then every bit of dust will attach to the skull and so you’ll eventually be disappointed with the skull being on your wall.

Bear, Wild Boar, and larger animals require a couple more weeks or even another month to properly degrease.  Otherwise they’ll have a distinct yellow tint in time.

Yellow=Grease.  Grease+Dust=Ugly
